Manual Handling Training

What is Manual Handling?

Manual handling refers to any workplace activity that requires using bodily force to lift, lower, push, pull, carry, or move a load. Whether you are moving heavy boxes in a warehouse, handling equipment in an office, or managing deliveries, improper technique is one of the leading causes of workplace musculoskeletal disorders, such as back pain, strains, and joint injuries.

Our Manual Handling Training Course is designed to provide employees across all industries with the practical knowledge and techniques required to carry out lifting and moving tasks safely. This training ensures full compliance with UK health and safety regulations, aligning with HSE recommendations while promoting safe, practical habits for everyday workplace
situations.

What are the legal requirements of the workplace?

Employers have an obligation under the health and safety (first aid) regulations 1981 to make adequate and appropriate provision for their workforce. Within the Utility industry first aid provision may be more detailed and include a surplus of medical equipment due to the greater risks involved in the workplace.

All courses are designed to give your staff the essential skills they need, and the confidence required to provide effective first aid. All our courses meet and exceed the current (UK) Resuscitation Council guidelines and are HSE compliant.

How do I book a course?

First Aid courses are delivered on request, so please contact us to arrange a suitable date.

Who are first aid courses for?

Nominated first aiders or the appointed first aid person in the workplace should attend a course equipping individuals with essential skills to provide initial assistance in emergency situations. These courses cover a range of topics, including life-saving techniques, injury management, and basic medical care.

  • First Aid at Work is aimed at individuals working in high-risk environments such as building sites.
  • Emergency First Aid at Work is aimed at individuals working in low-risk environments such as offices.
