What Is National Water Hygiene E-Learning?

The National Water Hygiene E-Learning course is the online, self-guided version of the EUSR National Water Hygiene passport scheme, developed in partnership with all major UK water companies. It provides the same standardised knowledge and hygiene awareness required for any individual working on clean water networks — completed at your own pace, at a time that suits you.

The course takes approximately 2–3 hours to complete, and you have 28 days from enrolment to finish it. On successful completion you are registered with EUSR and receive the official Blue Card, which demonstrates competency and industry compliance across a wide range of utility operations.

How It Works

  1. Book online — complete your booking below, providing details for each candidate.
  2. Receive your invitation — once enrolled, each candidate is sent an invitation and login for the EUSR XAMS e-learning platform. If you have used XAMS before, your existing login credentials will work; new users create an account and password.
  3. Complete the course — the course is available immediately after enrolment and must be completed within 28 days.
  4. Pass the e-assessment — a timed, 25-question multiple-choice assessment with a pass mark of 22/25. Candidates must also pass a health screening questionnaire to receive their EUSR card.

If you fail the e-assessment, one re-sit is available (you may need to review the individual modules you initially failed — this is indicated by the score at the end of the assessment). If you fail the e-assessment twice, you will need to book onto a face-to-face, trainer-led session.

What You’ll Need

This training is self-guided and can be completed at any time. To complete the e-learning, candidates will need:

  • A laptop or tablet (10″ or above) with speakers — mobile phones cannot be used
  • A modern internet browser (Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge — Internet Explorer is not supported)
  • A reliable internet connection
  • Access to an email account (personal or business)

You must complete the course in a suitable room by yourself. If working in an office, we recommend using a headset, and colleagues must know you are on a course and cannot attend impromptu meetings, respond to questions or give advice. If using a mess room, please place a sign on the door stating a meeting is in progress.

If you are using a company device, please check with your IT department for any firewall restrictions.

Before You Start: Photo ID

Before the course, each candidate must supply a selfie and photo ID (passport or driving licence) to enquiries@jasonrowleyltd.com. The selfie must be:

  • Head and shoulders, against a plain background (wall or door, no patterns)
  • No hats or headphones
  • A JPEG file saved with your name, minimum file size 750kb (medium resolution)

Additional Support

If you feel you require additional support to complete the training, please contact enquiries@jasonrowleyltd.com before the course if any of the following apply:

  • You have difficulty reading and writing
  • You have dyslexia, ADHD or autism
  • Any other difficulties for which you feel you require assistance

Quality Assurance

As part of our quality assurance, we contact a random sample of candidates after the e-learning has been completed and ask five questions relating to the water hygiene course, to eliminate any collusion or cheating. Selected candidates must complete this audit successfully before any EUSR award is granted. Failure to complete the audit will be recorded as a failed result, and the candidate will be required to book onto a trainer-led course at an additional cost.

National Water Hygiene (E-Learning) can be completed in approximately 2–3 hours and contains a health screening questionnaire followed by ten modules:

  Module
1 Preventing contamination
2 The importance of water
3 Water is food
4 Water as a carrier of disease
5 Restricted Operations
6 Potential causes and consequences of contamination: water treatment and storage
7 Potential causes and consequences of contamination: water network
8 Preventing contamination
9 Disinfection
10 Ensuring quality: sampling and audit

The course concludes with a timed e-assessment: 25 multiple-choice questions with a pass mark of 22/25.
