What Does AED Training Cover?

AED training focuses on the safe and effective use of an automated external defibrillator during cardiac emergencies. You learn how defibrillation supports the heart’s rhythm and how early action improves survival outcomes.

The course covers both theory and hands-on practice. You learn how to assess a casualty, respond to sudden cardiac arrest, and deliver first aid while coordinating with emergency services.

Training follows current Resuscitation Council UK guidance and reflects Health and Safety Executive expectations for workplace first aid provision.

How Does AED Training Help You Respond to Cardiac Arrest?

Cardiac arrest stops the heart from pumping blood around the body. Without rapid intervention, survival rates fall sharply. AED training prepares you to act quickly and follow a clear process during high-pressure situations.

You learn how to:

  • Identify cardiac arrest and unresponsive casualties
  • Perform CPR with correct depth and rate
  • Use an AED device safely and confidently
  • Deliver a shock when advised by the defibrillator
  • Continue care until emergency services arrive

Practical scenarios help you practise decision-making, communication, and teamwork during cardiac emergencies.

Why Is AED and CPR Training Important?

Every minute counts when someone goes into cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR and defibrillation can double or triple the chance of survival. This course gives you the confidence to respond fast and accurately, bridging the gap until professional medical help arrives. Through practical exercises, demonstrations, and scenario-based learning, you’ll gain the essential aid skills to save lives, not just in the workplace, but anywhere a cardiac emergency occurs. Our approach ensures you’re prepared to perform effective CPR and use a defibrillator with confidence in real situations.
