Our SCO Core, PTW and FOA Renewal Training helps you maintain your Safe Control of Operations (SCO) registration in line with current gas industry expectations. If you already hold valid SCO certification and need to renew Modules 1 (SCO Core), 2 (Permit to Work) and 5 (Form of Authority), this short course ensures you remain fully compliant with EUSR and gas network standards.
The renewal process reinforces your operational responsibilities and provides updated training to keep your knowledge current. This allows you to continue working safely and legally within UK gas networks while issuing permits, managing FOA processes and carrying out routine site duties.

You can complete the SCO PtW and FOA Renewal through our virtual classroom. The training takes 4 hours to complete. This format gives you flexibility while maintaining high training standards. You’ll still receive live guidance from our qualified trainers and complete the same formal assessment.

Maintaining Form of Authority (FOA) certification ensures you continue to meet legal and procedural responsibilities when managing gas network authorisations. FOA holders must complete renewal training before the expiry of their current registration.
The renewal session will revisit:
This part of the course reinforces the seriousness of your authorisation role. It also confirms your ongoing ability to manage safety-critical documentation in line with industry standards.
The SCO Core Module underpins all other elements of the scheme. During renewal, you’ll revisit the purpose of the SCO scheme and how it affects day-to-day gas operations.
You’ll review updated procedures for:
This refresher ensures you stay aligned with the latest SCO scheme requirements and continue to apply safe working practices.
The renewal assessment has two parts: a knowledge-based test and a short demonstration of competence. The knowledge part is a multiple-choice exam focused on your understanding of revised SCO requirements and safe systems of work. The competence-based section may include document reviews or scenario-based tasks that reflect your real-world responsibilities.
Each assessment is tailored depending on your role, whether you’re a competent person or an authorising engineer. All assessments are reviewed by our EUSR-accredited team to ensure full compliance before certification.
We deliver renewal training with clarity, professionalism and full alignment with industry expectations. Our trainers have years of experience within gas distribution, utilities and permit-based operational control.
